WSCG's 5th Birthday Spring Fair

Published Fri 15 Nov 2024

We celebrated WSCG’s 5th birthday with our first Spring Fair, on Sunday 27th October 2024, and what a day it was!

Danielle & her Giant Steps team, did a great job wrangling lots of enthusiastic scarecrow builders - their imaginative creations dotted the fences for a few weeks after the event. Danielle also graced us with a delightful violin performance by 14 of her talented students!

Big thanks to Cynleen, Lorene, Michael T, John C, Lyndall, Richard L & Susie for organising, contributing to and tending the stalls; the jams & preserves were wonderful, the seedlings abundant & the membership stall, heartfelt.

Allan mastered the ceremonial part of the day, introducing our special guests, Jess Wilson MP and Penny Coulson from City of Boroondara, it was great to have them along to see the growth of the garden.

Peter recited one of his beautifully written poems, accompanied by Monica on violin… thank you both for a very special performance.

Thanks to Christine & the Kew Neighbourhood Learning Centre team for bringing along some great creations & spreading the word on their plans to grow fresh produce to be used on the menu of their Spare Chair Cafe in Derby St, Kew. Fresh & local, we love it!

And what about those ripper snags from Josh at Joyce & Son Butchers on High St, Kew East?? Thanks to Arni, Richard Q & Mary for absolutely smashing the sausage sizzle!

All the while Flynn Skelton documented the day with his beautiful photography - click here to see his photos of the day.

Thank you to everyone who made it happen, helped set up & pack down and those who simply came along to enjoy, it was a lovely day!
